“These two volumes used together provide a much
needed insight into how the temperaments of a
particular child and his or her parents work
together (or against each other) to set the tone for
harmony or discord that can last a lifetime. The
authors developed and standardized questionnaires to
measure both how parents view a child’s temperament
and how they view their own. From these measures,
descriptions of various personality types are used
to explain behavior resulting from certain traits.
Parents who participated in the standardization were
amazed at how accurate the profiles are and what can
be learned to ease the parenting task. Oprah
Winfrey should put these volumes on her “Must Read”
list for every parent.
