A
series of three parenting workshops are currently
available on a local basis (California - Los Angeles
and San Francisco areas). These workshops have been
designed specifically for Parent Education Programs
typically provided by School Districts and Adult
Community Education Programs. Each workshop is 2-3
hours in length and focuses on three critical
components of parenting by temperament.
Workshop I allows participants to complete a
temperament questionnaire (childhood sorter) for
their child, learn about their child's unique
temperament, and explore the impact of temperament
on such areas as learning, socialization, discipline
and homework.
Workshop II allows participants to complete an
adult temperament questionnaire (sorter) to identify
their own unique temperament and parenting style.
Participants will explore a model of ideal parenting
that reflects the conclusions of the best research
available on this subject. Participants will
discover their strengths relative to the ideal model
and areas in which they can stretch.
Workshop III focuses on putting it all together.
This workshop assumes that participants have a
working knowledge of both child and adult
temperament, temperament preferences, and influences
on parenting style (covered in the first 2
workshops). This workshop then examines two major
issues in family: the impact of temperament on
family dynamics, and the impact of temperament on
solving common problems from homework to discipline.
